LEATHER STITCHING

The small details matter, but it can be hard to know where you can add them. I am a big fan of adding seams and elevated stitching where you can. This serves a number of purposes. It helps in maintaining the structure of the upholstery, allows for certain parts to be mended and replaced easier, as well as gives everything a more tailored thoughtful look. 

Making the stitching part of the design can help bring two different fabrics together in an intentional way. It can create nice borders in solid color upholstery and piping can introduce an entirely new material to create interest.
